How to Find a Niche Market – Locating a Hungry Market Eager to Buy!

OK so you now understand Internet Marketing is a People Business but how do you go about finding a niche market that is hungry? The most important skill you can have as an Internet Marketer is knowing where to uncover a hungry market that craves your product. Knowing how to find a "hungry market" is the single most valuable skill you will ever develop as an entrepreneur.

The majority of people online are simply unaware of who their target market is. They spend their time trying to get in front of any market; right or wrong. People don’t realize that adopting this approach no one cares what you are selling. Marketing to the wrong market is a time waster and one of the largest contributors’s why many people give up and believe Internet Marketing does not work. In reality Internet Marketing works exceptionally well if you take the time to learn and apply what works.

There are multiple methods to finding a hungry market. Let’s explore some of my favorites to give you an idea and get you thinking outside the box.

One of my favorite sources for finding new niche markets is to look at magazines. The secret of the hungry market is hidden inside hundreds of special interest magazines that cover practically every subject known to man.

You can look through any magazine and find hot products and learn about the latest trends whether it is weight loss products, bridal, fitness, cars or the latest must have golf club. Let’s take golf for example…here is a market that has magazines solely about golf which should tell you this is a hot market. Now let’s dig deeper to find a hungry market in the golf market. If you look through Golf Digest you will see a hand full of niche markets to market to such as people needing help to improve their swing, a new golf club, how to correct their slice, etc.

The key is to find a niche market inside a market. You would not want to market to the whole golf community but rather to a group a people that could benefit from your product or service.

Another very affective way to find niche markets is by visiting many of the websites that provide a list of what’s hot right now. Here is a list of some of my favorites:

  1. Lycos 50
  2. Yahoo Buzz
  3. Amazon
  4. Google Suggest
  5. Dogpile SearchSpy
  6. Ebay Pulse

If you have a market you are interested in a great way to find niche markets inside a market is to find Internet Forums for that market. People enjoy social networking and love using forums to gather information and ask questions around certain topics. If a topic has many replies or views then it is very likely that those people would buy a product or service that would solve their problem. Can you see the potential of using the forums? It is huge and a very affective marketing tool.

You really need to stop thinking how to sale to a market and put yourself into their shoes. Look at it from their point of view. For example, let’s take weight lose…think of a young woman looking in the mirror and not happy with the way she looks. She may be thinking “how can I reduce fat from my thighs, what exercises or creams get rid of cellulite, how to get rid of belly fat, etc. These are niche markets that you can tailor a landing page around to target highly relevant keywords for your niche market.

I hope this gets you thinking…now go out there and find your niche market!
